ERASMUS+ Island

In the last week of June, Eva Blažena Nováková went to an expert course in Iceland, organized by the educational agency Smart Teachers Play More. As the name suggests, the main goal of the course was to introduce modern teaching methods filled with play, movement, and calming activities, and above all, to focus on building a friendly and positive classroom climate.

Teachers from all over Europe gathered in Iceland—from Italy, France, Germany, Portugal, Estonia, and other countries. The participants had a unique opportunity to compare the conditions of the teaching profession in the individual countries and establish contacts for future cooperation on student exchange programs.

An important part of the program was a visit to an Icelandic school and a glimpse into the local education system. Among other things, this system focuses on sustainability, inclusion, and team-based learning. Furthermore, the Icelandic model emphasizes the importance of practical subjects, which are placed on the same level as academic ones.

In addition to professional development, Eva Blažena Nováková and the other course participants had the opportunity to experience Icelandic culture during a tour of Reykjavík and enjoy the incredibly beautiful scenery of the local landscape.

The activities took place under the accreditation of the Moravian-Silesian Region as the consortium coordinator in the field of school education within the Erasmus+ program.
